American Crime Story season 2 finally has an premiere date on FX
Edgar Ramirez is going to be playing Gianni Versace on the series, where as Ricky Martin will star as his partner Antonio D Amico. Penelope Cruz will be playing Versace’s sister Donatella, and Glee alum Darren Criss is going to be the killer Andrew Cunanan. This is a pretty great cast for what should be a very exciting season of the show.
There is a great reason for a lot of hype around American Crime Story season 2 and much of it has to do simply with the fact that the first season generated rave reviews. The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story ended up winning a wide array of Emmys and Golden Globes, not only for the actors but also for the show itself. This is another notorious case, and it’s going to get a lot of attention before it airs. Will it get as much as the Simpson iteration? Probably not, just because this isn’t as high-profile as it was that time in terms of media attention.
Still, you better be prepared for reasonably good ratings here, ones that could get better and better as it goes along if the show gets more buzz.
Just in case you’re wondering what happened to the American Crime Story chapter all about Hurricane Katrina, it has been delayed until 2019 at the earliest. That version of the show has since been redeveloped from its original premise and is now going to be focused more on a hospital setting. At this point, we’ll just be happy if it ends up coming on the air at all after so many delays.
