Suits season 7 updates: Filming timeline, hopes for season 8
If you do want to get more news on the Suits season 7 episode 11 return date CarterMatt has that for you over at the link here; the main push of this article is more about scoop for the upcoming episodes and a look towards the series’ future.
Earlier this week show creator Aaron Korsh did a (highly entertaining) question-and-answer session where he talked openly about a number of different things pertaining to the show. He started it off on a very positive note about the series’ future: He feels pretty confident about a season 8 and possibly one more after that. An 8th season feels like a near-given, even if there are issues to work out, cast contracts, and possibly another departure based on some of the discussion that is out there on the internet.
Commercially, there is justification to bring the show back since it’s still performing very well. Beyond that, we definitely think there is more story left to tell. We know that many other great USA series, including Monk, Psych, and Royal Pains, went off the air after eight seasons, but Suits is ready to push further.
As for where Suits is right now in filming, Korsh notes that they are filming the 14th episode and he is currently in the process of writing 716, otherwise known as both the finale and the backdoor pilot for the political spin-off featuring Gina Torres as Jessica Pearson. (He also mentioned that he is still working on writing the Suits portion of the backdoor pilot in a separate tweet.)
Here’s one that should especially generate some discussion: You will see a familiar recurring character from the past turn up in the second part of season 7, someone who was not a part of the first ten episodes. Side note to Twitter — can you include the original tweet in tweet embeds from now on? Please? We had to spell this out because Korsh’s tweet below of “yep” wouldn’t make sense without context.
Oh, and before we go, let’s give you Korsh’s response to a question about whether or not Jessica’s name would be dropped from Pearson Specter Litt — or if there would be another name on the door by the end of the season.
