Blue Bloods season 8 episode 6 preview: Danny & a basketball player’s case

When Blue Bloods season 8 episode 6 airs on CBS in just one week’s time, at the center of the story is an investigation. Specifically, it’s going to be one of Danny Reagan’s most high-profile cases that we’ve had a chance to see to date. The title here is “Brushed Off,” but the case Casey will be facing here is one that he won’t be able to brush off no matter how much he wants to do that.

The synopsis below offers up a little more insight into what is coming up:

“Brushed Off” – When a famous basketball player is found dead of an apparent drug overdose, Danny looks into his possible ties to a local drug gang. Also, Erin revisits the case of a man she may have wrongfully convicted years ago, and Frank is approached by Archbishop Kearns (Stacy Keach) regarding an eviction matter Jamie and Eddie are working on, on BLUE BLOODS, Friday, Nov. 3 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Anytime you’re dealing with a high-profile victim like a basketball player, you have to be prepared for the possibility of reporters at just about every turn. This is something that you’re especially going to see here. Danny’s status as the son of the NYPD Commissioner is probably going to only add to that. To make matters worse for him, there is something else that he also better be prepared for at the same time: Dealing with a gang. If this was Danny one year ago, maybe this wouldn’t be anywhere near as much of an issue for him. However, the big difference here is that this iteration of Danny is one where he saw a past conflict with a gang lead to his house burning down.

As for the other storylines, we also do appreciate seeing a character like Kearns on the show, mostly because religion is a very powerful thing and there is something interesting about exploring the relationship between religion, power, politics, and the law. This show is the perfect venue to do some of this exploring.
