Can Outlander season 3 hit 2 million viewer mark by season’s end?
Earlier this week, we reported here at CarterMatt season 3 episode 6 managed to pass 1.7 million live+same-day viewers for the first time. That was an incredibly impressive feat, one that is a testament to both the passion of the fans and the talent of the writers/producers to come up with a wonderful adaptation of a beloved book series.
Now when it comes to the goal of hitting 2 million, the best thing that we can do at this point is look at the show’s ratings trajectory to date. So far, the show has improved from 1.49 million viewers forthe premiere to 1.72 million for the Print Shop episode. That means over the course of these six episodes, the show added around 230,000 viewers. If you were to do some math here, the show is basically gaining about 38,000 viewers an episode. If it continues to gain viewers at that pace over the course of the entire season, the show would post for the finale 1.99 million. Seriously. Just 10,000 viewers away from the 2 million viewer mark. Basically, Outlander would need to find a way to pick up the pace somewhat if it wants to make it to the aforementioned goal.
However, here’s another interesting way to look at this. If the show gains the same percentage audience the rest of the way that it did over the course of the first six episodes of the season, it’ll break the 2 million viewer mark without a problem. It just needs to now find a way to continue growing the overall audience by the same percentage week after week.
Is that a very lofty goal? Sure, but if you can’t tell by now, we’re a numbers geek. The next record in terms of Starz that the show has to reach here is the 2.26 million who watched the Power season 3 premiere in the summer of 2016. That may be too high of a bar to set the rest of the summer, but it’s absolutely feasible at some point in season 4 if the show continues to keep everyone engaged.
Do we think the ratings will rise for Sunday’s episode?
It’s possible … but we’re going to talk about that more on Sunday morning. (Hey, we gotta leave you wanting more! It’ll just give you some good reading on that day regardless of whether or not you’ve seen the episode already. We like to plan Sunday stories with it in mind that many people are more than likely watching the show at different times.)

It would be amazing if we would hit 2m live viewers this season.
I’m not sure how realistic that is though.
The gains we had so far lead us to the arguably the most anticipated moment of the season, to the Print Shop scene. Therefore it would be impressive if we can continue to grow the audience.
Let’s wait and see.

I assume that if I watch at 9 pm PST on Saturday that it counts toward this total, yes?

Does anyone count the international audience? Judging from reactions on facebook, the international impact is growing.

They do not count the international viewers in this.
It’s only US and only those who watch Outlander on Sunday via STARZ app or a subscription.
But I hope that those numbers would be accounted somehow though, as that would give a much better idea about how popular the show is.
