Call the Midwife season 7 filming officially wraps; the timeline ahead

Call the Midwife season 7 filming wraps

Call the Midwife season 7 filming has been underway for many months now, but we are pleased to say that the cast and crew are wrapped!

In the post below via the show’s official Facebook page, you can see the great news made official from the fine folks behind the scenes at the series. Is there still a great deal more in the way of work to do? Absolutely, given that there needs to be editing, music, and a wide array of other things done in order to properly ensure that the series is good to go for its premiere on the BBC. There are eight episodes coming in this new season, and you will see the theme of new arrivals play out in a wide array of different ways! There will of course be many new babies welcomed via Nonnatus House, but at the same exact time you’ll see some new faces pop up as the series ushers in some characters who are very different from any that you’ve seen before.

If you want a sense of the timeline, here’s what you should know. Regardless of if you are viewing the series on the BBC in the UK or in America on PBS, the show will be airing its Christmas Special in just a matter of months. Beyond that the eight-episode season 7 will start in Britain as early as January, and it will likely premiere in America two or three months after that. The show remains one of Britain’s most-watched dramas, and while its ratings don’t rise to that level here in America it still does a rather loyal following in its own right. It’s a show that is raw, personal, and heartfelt in a way that few others are. We would actually equate its popularity on an emotional level to This Is Us — both have a number of tear-jerker moments, and you care simply because the show makes you care so much about many of its characters.

Before you dive into season 7, one of the best things to know when it comes to Call the Midwife is probably just this: You are going to get a chance to see a season 8! BBC has already ordered the show all the way through season 9, which is an incredible commitment to show any drama in this era where there is so much turmoil. You can watch with confidence that the series is not going to be going anywhere in the near future.

What do you want to see on Call the Midwife season 7 when the show does premiere?

Be sure to share some thoughts on that subject right now in the comments!
