This Is Us ratings stay solid; NCIS, NCIS: New Orleans, Bull even

This Is Us ratings

The latest This Is Us ratings have become a top attraction on Tuesday nights, and we are routinely excited to see the show’s performance.

What we saw last night, however, is what we would describe as a mixed result at best. After all, the NBC drama did win by a fairly wide margin, but it dropped slightly to a 2.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic. You can’t be upset about that if you’re the network — this is still the top-rated drama series on broadcast television — but of course you don’t want to see any declines. It’s still possible that it adjusts up — you hope that it does, just because you want to think that the show could have a little bit more momentum and juice left in the tank to stay close to a 3.0 rating.

There is obviously no reason to worry about the future here given that This Is Us received a season 3 renewal early this year — get those concerns out of your head already! What we will say is that Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders was still a poor choice to follow it up, given that this show posted yet again a 1.1 rating following it up. Chicago Fire would have done better.

As for some other ratings on the night…

A nice showing from CBS

While a 1.4 rating for NCIS isn’t exactly shattering any windows, look at things in this sense — the crime procedural remains pretty steady this season, and CBS is at a point in general where we really think they’re focusing more on older demographics and realizing that these people spend money, too. With over 13 million viewers it was the most-watched show of the night by a wide margin.

Meanwhile, both Bull (1.2) and NCIS: New Orleans (1.1) won their timeslots in total viewers — yep, Bull had more eyeballs on it than This Is Us did, at least in some of the preliminary numbers.

Kevin is not saving the world

Unfortunately, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World looks to be yet another ABC show in the Tuesday – 10:00 p.m. timeslot that is bottoming out. With a 0.6 rating we’re not altogether optimistic about its future, even if it’s not exactly performing any worse than Agents of SHIELD did in the timeslot last year. The big difference there is that SHIELD has the Marvel brand behind it. Unfortunately, the Jason Ritter series is still early in its run and could drop even more.
