Fun Outlander season 4 updates via Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe

Are we waiting for some substantial Outlander season 4 updates? Absolutely, but we’re also being somewhat realistic here. The show is only two and a half weeks into production on that, and save for Rollo, Stephen Bonnet, and Aunt Jocasta, there isn’t all that much in the way of official news out there on it yet. We know that Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin will have a larger role, just like we know that it is filming by and large in Scotland, but we wouldn’t quite consider any of that to be a big reveal since that’s been out there for months (or longer if you’re a book fan in regards to Roger and Bree).

There will be some more official reveals on season 4 in due time, but for now, why not just enjoy some of the fun little comments that Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe made on the subject during their Twitter Q&A session today? This was one promoted by the show following the big Print Shop episode and both of them took some time off presumably at the end of shooting.

1. Sam gives his take on Rollo – As it turns out, Rollo gets to eat more of whatever he wants and stay in great shape in the process. Rollo is every person’s dream, apparently.

2. Sam talks Ed Speleers casting – This is one of the first statements any of the cast has been able to make about the Downton Abbey actor since he arrived in Scotland to start his work as Bonnet.

3. Caitriona on if she’s stolen anything from the set just yet – The response here really speaks for itself.

4. Caitriona on if she could play any other role on the show, who would it be – Once again, we do like to think that the answer speaks for itself here. (Who would’ve thought that Rollo would be the star of both Q&As today? For those who are unaware, Rollo is Young Ian’s half-wolf half-dog companion, and you’re presumably going to see a lot of him over the course of season 4.)

There is certainly a good bit more from both Sam and Caitriona on their respective accounts that we didn’t get to here, so we suggest taking a look at their respective accounts. While they continue to work on season 4 episode 3×07 is coming onto Starz this weekend; what’s fun about that is that we still have more than half of a season to go! The Print Shop in this case is really only the beginning of a lot of other great stuff that will be coming up. Eventually, we’ll see Jamie and Claire embark on their journey across the ocean, where they will eventually end up in North Carolina, the setting for much of the season 4.
