This Is Us season 2 episode 6 preview: Life-changing Halloweens

When This Is Us season 2 episode 6 airs on NBC in one week’s time, it will be a Halloween episode different than most. While most shows out there often choose to use the holiday for lighthearted celebrations and all sorts of fun content, here you are getting what can be described more as a series of serious, powerful moments that could alter the lives of the Big Three both in terms of their past and present.

The title for This Is Us season 2 episode 5 is “The 20’s,” which is a little bit more of a random name for the episode than what we had tonight with “Brothers.” After all, that one was easier to read and understand in advance. What seems to be the most important thing about this episode, judging from the new synopsis below, is that we’re going to be seeing two separate timelines each centered around the same holiday:

Trick-or-treating with the 10-year-olds goes awry for Jack and Rebecca. Randall, Kevin and Kate have life-changing Halloweens.

Let’s focus primarily here on the present given that we are on the cusp of all of these characters having major changes in their lives. when it comes to Kevin, for example, this is a man in need of some serious help when it comes to his Vicodin addiction. He is struggling to find a doctor who is willing to give him the drug and his starting to see his life fall apart as a result of it. Meanwhile, his sister Kate is pregnant and is doing her best to be excited about it (she is wary of the risks) and Randall is still trying his best to get used to the new addition in his life. There have been serious issues that have been tackled there already but Randall is a good father. We do firmly believe as though he is going to do everything within his power in order to ensure that he gets this relationship on solid footing sooner rather than later.

The promo below offers up some more insight on the title — apparently, we’re seeing some of what the Big Three was like in their twenties, and we wonder if the same could be said for Jack judging from that thumbnail image. Given what we learned about his brother tonight that could be pretty darn important.
