Outlander season 3 episode 7 preview: Trouble follows Jamie and Claire

Following tonight’s wonderful Print Shop reunion and more, Outlander season 3 episode 7 will continue the saga of Jamie and Claire. Given that almost nothing between the two of them has gone off without a hitch to date, it’s fair to say that the trend is going to continue moving into the episode next week. This story should offer us an opportunity to see things pick almost immediately where they left off tonight; more than that, it will throw Claire into a tough position and give more for Young Ian and Fergus each to do beyond what we saw from them in “A. Malcolm.”

Oh, and we should also mention that some of Claire’s skills as a surgeon will also be put to the test. We wonder if subconsciously, there is a part of her who hoped someday she would return to Scotland in the past, and with that, she honed some of her abilities in the present. There’s obviously a great need for surgeons in the 20th century, but she’s all the more powerful and influential now in the 18th century with all of the added knowledge she has. That will prove useful in the moment, but some of how she uses to use some of these skills could have some interesting consequences along the way.

In the aftermath of a violent confrontation, Claire follows her conscience as a surgeon, even though it could put her and Jamie’s lives at risk. At the same time, Jamie attempts to evade the reach of the Crown as its representative closes in on his illegal dealings.

What the promo below should remind you of more so than anything is that no matter what the two characters have gone through, they are still working to try to get themselves the best, most stable future that they possibly can. They’ll also support each other through thick and thin. While Jamie recognizes that Claire’s decision as a surgeon may have consequences for him, it does not take away from how grateful he is to have her back in his life once more. There are many tests coming, and eventually some of them could lead to the two parties undergoing one of their biggest decisions to date — one involving a ship. That isn’t teased in this promo, but you’ve certainly seen in some other material over time that this is something that is coming.
