Outlander season 3 notes: Caitriona Balfe, Romann Berrux, Cesar Domboy fun

Caitriona Balfe

For today’s edition of Outlander season 3 notes the focus is on some lighthearted laughs — luckily, we have a few different sources for that.

Some of the most fun we’ve had watching Outlander related content this week comes via the W Network in Canada, who had series star Caitriona Balfe read off some especially edgy tweets. We do know that there are ways in which the whole “read off tweets in front of this camera” bit has been terribly overdone by late-night television, mostly because of Jimmy Kimmel starting things off with some of his “Mean Tweets.” Nonetheless there is still something about it here that does still make us laugh, whether it be the delivery of said tweets or some of the content that is within them. Plus, Balfe has a crackerjack sense of humor that she doesn’t get a chance to show off enough.

W Network became the home for Outlander after it aired previously on Showcase — given the network’s focus on female-fronted program the acquisition did not surprise us, and we are pleased that the show is airing on the same night this year. (In the past Outlander episodes were a good 24 hours behind when Starz was airing new episodes on Saturdays.)

There’s be a new episode this weekend in “A. Malcolm,” and it has a moment everyone will be looking forward to if you are a reader of the books.

On a different note, the video below features Balfe and Sophia Skelton chronicling the evolution of the Brianna – Claire relationship over the season to date. It’s an important bond the two have forged, and the sad irony of their situation is that Claire is gone at the time in which they were starting to grow closer together.

Will we see Skelton or Richard Rankin again in season 3? For the time being Rankin is being fairly mum on that subject … but fingers crossed, right? There is certainly much more story to tell there for Roger and Bree — we know they will be around in a rather big way for the upcoming fourth season.

Finally, Cesar Domboy – Romann Berrux Q&A highlights

Today, the two actors behind older/younger Fergus took part in a Q&A session discussing their time on the show and some of what they’ve enjoyed about playing the character. It is an odd passing of the torch now — we are happy to see Domboy make his first appearance as the character, but there is also some sadness there given that this also means that we are saying goodbye to someone who has been brilliant, especially earlier this season when Fergus lost his hand.

Check out Berrux’s account here to see some of his tweets; meanwhile, you can follow Domboy over at this link.
