‘Shiptober: Should Grey’s Anatomy season 14 bring Japril back together?

Mrs. Carter: Is it time for Japril to get back together on Grey’s Anatomy season 14, or are the two doomed to stay apart?

While there are a number of couples who are essential in one way or another to the ABC hit, Jackson and April remain a fan favorite — this, in turn, is pretty remarkable when you consider the fact that they aren’t even together at the moment. They may be more apart than they’ve ever been given that April doesn’t know if she can live with them anymore. They’re realizing that they are very different people, and with that they’ve handled their present situation in very different ways. Take, for example, Jackson being much more okay with the idea of hooking up with April than she is with him — what happened in Montana seems to be the catalyst for the two parties potentially going their separate ways for a little while.

So is there still hope for the two of them? In this edition of our CarterMatt ‘Shiptober series we’ve got a few ideas as to what could bring them closer together.

1. Ease off some of the pressure – One of the biggest problems that the two have at the moment is simply that they’re having to deal with so much in between living together, raising a child, and the aftermath of Montana. This is without even mentioning their job. If they can stabilize a little, maybe they can get to having more fun together and reminding each other of what they loved about each other in the first place.

2. See other people — temporarily – We know that there are many people out there who feel rather horrible about the Maggie / Jackson ‘ship that is going on, but we don’t think of it as anywhere near as bad of a thing in the short-term … provided of course that this allows Jackson to realize that maybe April is right for him. April may in turn need to be with someone else for Jackson to have a little jealousy towards her.

3. Ultimately, catch some breaks – Sometimes, it’s hard for couples on Grey’s Anatomy to get back together, and Japril may need a little bit of luck — such as being together at the right time and not having certain stresses put upon them — for their relationship to work once more.

Here’s one thing to feel hopeful about if you do consider yourself a Japril ‘shipper: We have seen now Jo and Alex get back together, and they’ve certainly gone through some pretty emotional stuff. If they can figure out a way to get back to one another after some of what they went through (and some of what Jo has gone through separate from him) there is some hope for Jackson and April still.
