Blue Bloods season 8 episode 4 preview: Frank’s in the driver’s seat

Blue Bloods season 8

When Blue Bloods season 8 episode 4 airs on CBS next week, you better be prepared for some awesome Frank Reagan storytelling. While we’ve seen Tom Selleck’s character wrestle many an ethical debate as the police commissioner of New York City, we haven’t seen as much of the police-work that actually landed him the position. That could change moving into “Out of the Blue” next week.

As the synopsis below indicates, this is going to serve as an opportunity for us to learn what happens when Frank runs up against a case he takes personally, as well as it being one that impacts someone who is in his inner circle and receives some treatment that they did not deserve. In this instance, this said person is Garrett.

Blue Bloods season 8 episode 4 synopsis – “Danny and Baez work the case of a detective who was gunned down prior to testifying against a career criminal. Also, Frank personally investigates when Garrett is attacked by a SWAT team outside his home, and Erin brings in a confidential informant against Anthony’s wishes, on BLUE BLOODS, Friday, Oct. 20 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.”

There’s almost no doubt from our vantage point that this is going to be an interesting episode mostly because you have three stories that all sound interesting on their own. You don’t always get that on this show. We do also appreciate here at CarterMatt that the show is stepping things up with some of their recurring characters — it looks as though both Garrett and Anthony are going to have a lot to do here and that is very much appreciated.

When it comes to the Danny Reagan storyline we’ll be the first to admit that there is nothing altogether shocking about the fact that a detective was killed before they have a chance to testify. This is, after all, one of those sort of things that does tend to happen on cop shows. Where things could get a little more interesting and complex is when the show starts to look into the motive and see that there may be more to this case than first meets the eye.
