Vikings season 5: New poster, Katheryn Winnick teaser
The first video below is a teaser that is themed all around Winnick’s character of Lagertha as she does her part to lead off what is a Viking funeral complete with launching the flaming arrow. If you’re hoping to get something in the way of substantial plot scoop out of this, there is a reasonably good chance that you’re going to be disappointed. This is not the sort of preview that is really out to focus on that. Instead, the emphasis here is a little bit more on style than substance, and creating one of the best visuals imaginable for you to be able to sink your teeth into. It’s stylistic and interesting, and there really are not many other teasers that we’ve had a chance to see like it for other shows.
As for focusing in on Lagertha for a teaser, this does obviously make a great deal of sense when you consider for a moment that the character is one of the landmarks of this show. She’s fierce, she’s powerful, and she will more than likely be centrally involved in some of the various power struggles that define the course of the story this year. If you like Vikings when there are opposing forces constantly fighting it out, this could be the season for you. All of that is only elevated more thanks to the sheer scope of what’s being planned. This could be one of the most vast and action-packed collections of stories that we’ve had a chance to see to date. Odds are, you’re going to love this if you liked season 4. We also hope that this will be one of the years where Winnick is finally recognized more for some of her excellent work during the awards season – she’s been overlooked for far too long.

It’s visually striking, and History does a great job of incorporating some of the show’s branding in here to go along with the central power struggle at the heart of the story at the moment. Let’s just hope that from here on out the story lives up to the outstanding hype created here, regardless of if you are talking about Lagertha, Bjorn, Ivar, or any of the other central characters.
