The Bachelor alum Nick Viall to appear on Speechless season 2

Nick Viall

Nick Viall may have said that he is done with Bachelor Nation after being the star of The Bachelorbut he’s clearly not done with TV.

According to a report coming in right now via Deadline, you are going to have a chance to see Viall make an appearance on an upcoming episode of Speechless, another show that is airing over on ABC. His role is that of a B-movie actor by the name of Tyson, one who tries to forge a friendship with JJ (Micah Fowler) before eventually working to help get him out of a bind. Tyson takes his role in his B-movies probably more seriously than he should, and while we’re not always the biggest fan of what feels like reality TV casting for the sake of getting a show attention, this seems like the sort of part that could actually be rather funny. Given how seriously Nick seemed to take some of his time on The Bachelor and some other shows you can argue that he is really going to make fun of himself on this show.

Is it possible that we’re going to see Nick take on more acting gigs if this goes well? Depending on the end result we do presume that just about anything is possible. Certainly stranger things have happened and former stars of The Bachelor / The Bachelorette have landed gigs as hosts or correspondents on other shows.

This news is probably one of the few bits of positivity that have come for Nick in the public eye as of late, given that it was announced not too long ago that he and Vanessa Grimaldi, who he originally picked on the show, ended their engagement. They have each moved forward, but this continues another unfortunate pattern of the majority of Bachelors not ultimately marrying the woman that they picked at the end of the show. As of right now Sean Lowe remains the only one to do this — Jason Mesnick ended up marrying his runner-up Molly, and that is the next-closest thing.

As for why Speechless opted to go through with this casting, one of the theories may just be that they want to figure out a way to bring in some more viewers to the show. This is, after all, the lowest-rated of the four comedies airing right now on ABC Wednesday night. Beyond that, maybe Nick just found some way to impress them with some of his acting ability. We haven’t seen him act enough to know whether or not he will be good in the role.

What do you think about the idea of Nick Viall on Shameless?
