Blue Bloods season 8 episode 5 spoilers: More Frank, Mayor Dutton drama

Blue Bloods season 8

When Blue Bloods season 8 episode 5 airs on CBS, there are of course a number of different stories you can anticipate seeing. At the center of them is one that you will probably be seeing often throughout this season: The battle between Frank and Mayor Dutton. There is some respect there, but there are also wide differences when it comes to their ideology. The Mayor wants the NYPD to be in lockstep with her own agenda, but we’ve learned a few times over at this point that Frank isn’t down with that. He does what he believes is best for the sake of his department, even if that means he gets a little bit of blowback down the line.

Could some of this blowback come during this episode? It’s absolutely possible. The title for this October 27 installment is “The Forgotten” and you can look below if you do want to get some additional news all about it:

“Danny and Baez investigate the murder of a single mother whose ex-husband has a history of violence. Also, Frank deals with the fallout when Mayor Dutton (Lorraine Bracco) eliminates solitary confinement in prisons, and Jamie’s efforts to save a young woman who overdosed on drugs has unexpected consequences, on BLUE BLOODS, Friday, Oct. 27 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.”

We do understand that the issue of solitary confinement would present a few challenges … and that is putting it VERY lightly. It’s been a controversial topic for some time and we don’t foresee it being any less controversial in the near future. Is it necessary to keep dangerous criminals away from each other or is it cruel and unusual punishment? It’s still a little bit too early to know for sure there one way or another.

As for some of the other storylines…

We know that Jamie could in a tough spot in this episode given that working hard to save someone else can lead to some significant challenges. For example, what if this said person doesn’t want to be saved, or what if something happens that puts you in danger as a result of it? This could be a personal case for Jamie and may lead to a great Will Estes performance. We’d love for him to have a spotlight given that there’s already been great material for both Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg this season. We certainly feel like more is coming for Wahlberg based on what we’re going to be seeing with Danny and Baez during this episode.

In the end, we’re looking forward to getting to see how this story all comes together — but we’re going to be waiting for a while.
