Lucifer season 3: Show boss open to Timothy Omundson return

Could we get a Timothy Omundson return to Lucifer season 3 at some point in the future? Obviously, we’d love that. We’ve made it very clear over the years (including in our most-recent article here at CarterMatt about the upcoming Psych: The Movie) that he is one of our favorite actors. He’s also a part of one of our favorite episodes of this show in “God Johnson,” where Lucifer is coaxed into thinking that he is actually his father.

One thing that is very lovely to hear is that show executive producer Joe Henderson is every bit the fan of Omundson as we are, and that he would be open to bringing him back down the road. He explains as much to Assignment X, while also praising the actor for his public recovery from a stroke earlier this year:

“For one thing, Timothy Omundson was quite possibly the greatest guest star we ever had. We adore him. He’s recovering right now – he had a stroke recently and he’s been detailing it on Twitter in a very brave, open way, and it’s awesome. We’ve never had a guest actor come in for one episode and make such an impact on us. He’s part of the family, even though he’s only in one episode. So we would love to explore that again. Part of the question is when he becomes available again. He’s currently recovering. We are there for him, we are wishing him the best. He will recover. I am hoping when he does, he wants to come back, because we love him and he had a great experience, but honestly, what we’ll do is, we’ll work around him, and that’s a testament to his skill. He took such ownership of the role in a way that few actors can.”

Obviously whenever that happens we’ll be jumping up and down with excitement; for now, we continue to wish Omundson well. We believe in him even more than King Richard super-believed in Tad Cooper on Galavant — and that’s quite a bit.
