See Outlander stars Sam Heughan, Steven Cree, Sophie Skelton have fun at The Land Con

We weren’t precisely sure how much we were going to be able to write about the Outlander convention The Land Con this weekend. After all, it is taking place on a completely different continent in Europe, and to go along with that we didn’t know how much in the way of official video there would be from the event. It’s one thing to just go off of tweets, but it’s another thing altogether to see some fun video featuring some of the show attendees including Sam Heughan, Steven Cree, Richard Rankin, and Sophie Skelton.

Luckily, the folks over at Wevents Production (who put on The Land Con) did a really nice thing in putting out some small video clips of various moments you can enjoy. (Check out some of the links to them at the bottom of the article or visit their account on Twitter for more updates.) A few of these clips revolve around some good-natured panel moments with some of the various cast members, some give you a sense of the audience love that is there for the show, and one of them even offers up a behind-the-scenes look at something you always don’t get a behind-the-scenes look at: The photo sessions, where fans get a chance to take a photo with one of their favorite stars. So many of the really fun photos you see at these conventions after the fact come via these.

All of this is pretty fun. Conventions are a great venue for fans to foster good relationships with each other, but also one for actors to understand more the passion and adoration of their fans. Granted, we don’t think Heughan or any of his Outlander co-stars are oblivious to the love that is out there for them — it is a little bit different now than it was a decade or two ago before social media existed. Back before the internet you could film your season off halfway around the world and you would feel as though you were somewhat in a bubble, unsure as to how it was received.

All in all, these conventions prove to be a great venue for everyone involved — were they not, we don’t think actors would want to attend them and the same would go for the fans. We imagine that there will be more in the future, but with season 4 starting to get going (read our full report about that over at CarterMatt here) they’re probably going to be far more scattered in the months to come. Unless it’s just a short flight away, it’s going to be hard for some of the major players on Outlander to go off and do some other conventions. If they do, we’ll of course do our best to share some coverage.
