When NCIS season 15 episode 2 airs on CBS October 3, there will still be work for Mark Harmon’s Gibbs to do. He’s not going to be his old self again, not that you would imagine that he would be. While this show, as many procedurals do, tends to forget the past fairly quickly, one episode is a little quick for the team. There’s going to be some time needed for him and McGee both to recover from what they went through in South America, and maybe this remains the impetus of the first few episodes. Right around the time they could be starting to get used to their new normal, that’s going to get shaken up once more courtesy of Maria Bello coming on board in episode 4 as Jacqueline “Jack” Sloane, a new addition to the team.
We don’t want to get too ahead of ourselves here, as there is still something very interesting about next week’s “Twofer,” as well — the return of Dr. Grace Confalone, played by Laura San Giacomo. The synopsis makes it very clear why she is coming back.
NCIS season 15 episode 2 synopsis – “NCIS is called in to investigate when the body of a missing Navy Lieutenant who disappeared a year and a half ago is located by a cemetery grounds crew while they are relocating caskets on the property. Also, Gibbs and McGee must pass a psych evaluation with Doctor Grace Confalone (Laura San Giacomo) before officially resuming all work responsibilities.”
Does it take all that much effort to figure out why Dr. Confalone is coming back right now? It shouldn’t, since this is probably one of the most organic uses of this character known to mankind. It makes a whole lot of sense for her to surface now, just as it makes a whole lot of sense for her to be the last line of defense before Gibbs and McGee can find their way back to working out in the field. Beyond all of this, it’s pretty darn clear that this episode is going to have one of the creepier cases of the season to go along with it. If you enjoy all things NCIS, odds are that you’ll very much appreciate what the show is bringing to the table here.
The NCIS season 15 episode 2 promo
If you look below, you can get a small sense of how Gibbs and McGee are adjusting to what is their new normal — it’s going to be difficult for them, given how much as changed and also how much they’ve ultimately changed to go along with it. Within this episode there’s going to be a crazy case, so if they are involved in it, they better be prepared to hit the ground running!
