The Last Ship season 4 episode 8 spoilers: Dr. Vellek’s intentions

When The Last Ship season 4 episode 8 airs on TNT, there will be a further sense of impending dread for the Nathan James. We’re near the end of the season (there are only two episodes after this one), and given that there is a two-hour finale coming on October 8, this story will be wrapping up before you know it.

Buckle up, given that the story that is coming up now seems to be one stuffed full of peril and assorted drama. The synopsis below is just the smallest of tastes.

The Last Ship season 4 episode 8 synopsis – “An undercover mission in the land of the dead leads to disturbing revelations about Dr. Vellek’s (Peter Weller) sinister plans.”

When The Last Ship season 4 episode 8 airs, Weller will probably be what keeps us on the edge of our seat the most. The fact that the show was able to get him to take on this sort of role is incredible, given that few people can go into these sort of performances with the same combination of gritty realism and impending doom. He’s dark, he’s formidable, and he should prove to be very effective in causing trouble however long he is going to last the rest of the season. For much of the season, the Nathan James has spent their time wondering how to keep much of the human race alive in the midst of the famine; now that we’re nearing the end of the fourth season, our focus is instead shifting more onto how these characters themselves can stay alive. After all, in order to help other people they have to be able to help themselves, and while there may already be a fifth season on tap over on TNT, there is not necessarily any guarantee that the remaining characters are all going to make it to that point. As a matter of fact, we’d be rather shocked if they do given the show’s nature for big, shocking surprises.

One way or another, we know that we at CarterMatt will remain very much interested in chronicling the show’s performance the rest of the way — especially in the midst of all the gossip as of late regarding whether or not the fifth season will be the last.

This offers up a little more insight on the infiltration mission that’s ahead for the Nathan James, one where at the center of it is going to be trying to break into Vellek’s camp in order to see how he trains and what he wants. If Vellek finds them … well, let’s just say that this could be problematic for everyone.
