Gotham season 4 episode 4 spoilers: Nathan Darrow back as Mr. Freeze

Nathan Darrow

If you love the Nathan Darrow iteration of Mr. Freeze, you’re going to love that he will be back on Gotham season 4 episode 4! The character will officially be back for this episode, and this should mark his first appearance of the season. He’s obviously one of the most notorious villains in all of the Batman canon, but through the lens of the show we find him someone who is still actively in the process of trying to find his own voice and understand the scope of his power. That will likely progress from now until the end of the season, which is probably going to mark the early days of the Batman era.

Gotham season 4 episode 4 is entitled “A Dark Knight: The Demon’s Head,” and that’s an intentional reference to another character with comic-book ties in Ra’s Al Ghul. You can read more about him, and the entirety of the story ahead, below:

“Bruce Wayne puts the lives of Gotham Natural History Museum historian Niles Winthrop (guest star Dakin Matthews) and his grandson, Alex (guest-star Benjamin Stockholm), in danger in an attempt to uncover the meaning behind his prized knife from the auction. Meanwhile, Ra’s Al Ghul (Alexander Siddig) proves he’ll take deadly measures to achieve what he wants. Also, with Sofia Falcone (Crystal Reed) in town, she is on a mission to win back Gotham from Penguin in the all-new “A Dark Knight: The Demon’s Head” episode of GOTHAM airing Thursday, Oct. 12 (8:00-9:01 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (GTH-404).”

If this wasn’t enough of a reason to be excited, know that you’re also seeing Anthony Carrigan as Zsasz once more. He’s developed a rather useful place on the show as of late as the Penguin’s main stooge, and the guy roaming around the city enforcing his license program that is allowing him to inflict all sorts of terrible stuff on the city while claiming that he was helping to reduce crime.

On paper, we do think that there are a lot of exciting pieces in place for Gotham to go in this episode, given that the presence of Sofia Falcone in the city is going to lead to some interesting power dynamics. Jim Gordon may have to consider in the end who he wants to side with — the Falcone family or the Penguin — and there may not be a clear winner on the other side in terms of which route is actually the safest for the city. As for where Mr. Freeze falls into all of the chaos that surrounds him in the city, we’re just waiting to figure that out.

What do you think will happen to Nathan Darrow’s Mr. Freeze?
