Leading into The Orville episode 4 entitled “If the Stars Should Appear,” one thing we know is that Fox loves synergy! After all, it does make a great deal of sense that the series would want to get other well-known performers from Fox on the show, and that seems to include right now none other than Robert Knepper. The former Prison Break star is lending his talent to the September 28 episode, and we hope that we’re going to get to see something rather fun for him to do here. It’s going to be another standalone adventure, which is great given that this is the point of the show. Every week you’re getting a different story, and a chance to explore some very different things.
Below, you can view a few more details now via CarterMatt regarding what is coming up.
The Orville episode 4 synopsis – “Ed and the Orville crew encounter a massive vessel adrift in space, which is in danger of colliding with a star. While some of the crew set out to help the ship’s inhabitants, Bortus, Gordon, and John stay behind and fend off a Krill attack on another Union ship in the all-new “If the Stars Should Appear” episode of THE ORVILLE airing Thursday, Sept. 28 (9:01-10:00 PM ET) on FOX.”
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that some of the crew is going to try and help in a time of crisis, given that the spirit of cooperation is in part what this show is about. Yet, we also realize that there’s going to be something a little more action-oriented in here just because things with this show never quite go according to plan.
The latest The Orville ratings update
Fox did something very experimental in airing the first two episodes of the show simultaneously across all coasts following their latest NFL broadcasts. In doing so, we do think that they got the show some strong sampling. The second episode generated around a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is certainly great for a new show in 2017. It’s down from the premiere, but that is to be expected. Our feeling now is that if the show just brings in a 1.2 or higher the rest of the season it’ll probably be a lock to return. Remember that this is Fox, and the ratings expectations are not exactly through the roof here.
