Outlander season 3 episode 3 photos: Claire, Jamie’s path to the present

Ready for some Outlander season 3 episode 3 photos? The latest ones were released by Starz this week, and they demonstrate that the show is not messing around when it comes to time.

The second episode of the series pushed things forward to the point where Brianna was a toddler, and moving into episode 3, we’re going forward all the way to when the character can actually be played by Sophie Skelton. One of the images below is an alternative angle of the graduation scene that you’ve had a chance to see at this point in a few different trailers released over the past several months. Why move the show forward to her becoming a young adult? The answer to that is rather clear: A need to get the show to the next point in the story. While we do think that there is a lot to explore in Bree’s childhood, especially in terms of her relationship with Claire and Frank, the reality is that this is a story of Claire and Jamie coming back together. If the show were to cover some of that, it wouldn’t be until episode 10 or 11 when we got to the Print Shop. As it is, we’re still at least a couple of episodes away. (We’d be down for a spin-off about this time, provided that someone had a time machine to make the scheduling work.)

In the end, we do think the images, (plus the actual Outlander episode when it airs) will tell you most of what you need to know about these characters and what unfolds with them. You are going to see Claire and Frank try to do everything that they can in order to make the relationship work for the sake of Brianna, but the problem is that Frank’s well aware that her heart isn’t with him. Despite whatever efforts she may make, there’s this obvious divide that he cannot ignore no matter how he wants to. This divide is only going to widen over time leading to some events of great enormity; following that, we should inch ever closer to the scenes from the season 2 finale “Dragonfly in Amber.”

Judging from one of the images below, it does appear as though Claire and Frank are either having an intimate couch-side chat, or are about to undergo counseling.

The story of Jamie Fraser and Lord John Grey

You can get another small glimpse of Lord John (David Berry) within the additional images below, as he will find himself responsible for looking after “Red Jamie.” Because of their shared history, however, killing him is not going to be anywhere near the top of his priority list. These two have a fascinating and fantastic relationship within the books, and these scenes should represent the beginning of something that could expand to be so much more.

Also, we know that there are some Lord John Grey stories out there that fans would love to see replicated at some point, whether it be in this show or something separate.
