If you consider yourself a fan of Longmire (like we are!) then you really should check out NCIS: New Orleans season 4 episode 2. After all, you’re going to get a chance to see the return of Cassidy Freeman to the show as Eva Azarova for the first time since the crossover episode with NCIS proper. She’s going to be a part of the October 3 episode (the second one this season) entitled “the Asset,” and it just so happens that she and Tammy are going to be working together in hopes of finding a missing Russian operative. As the synopsis below indicates, it’s someone she’s known a rather long time:
“Pride and his team join forces with FBI Director Isler (Derek Webster) after a Russian operative, who’s in the states to provide intelligence on sleeper agents, disappears after his Navy escort is murdered. Also, Tammy partners with former sleeper agent Eva Azarova (Cassidy Freeman) to locate the missing operative who Eva has known since childhood, on NCIS: NEW ORLEANS, Tuesday, Oct. 3 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.”
The first takeaway that we’ve got from reading the synopsis is that no matter what happens to Pride (in the aftermath of what transpired at the end of this past season and the season 4 premiere on September 26), we’ve at least got a little more self-assurance that we’re going to have a chance to see him around. We wouldn’t want to see Scott Bakula separated from anyone for too long!
Now, let’s get back to one of the notable aforementioned guest stars. Could the door be open for more Cassidy Freeman appearances down the road? We absolutely hope so, given the fact that 1) she’s great in everything we’ve seen her in and 2) she has a little more scheduling flexibility at this point. Longmire wrapped up filming its final season for Netflix earlier this summer, and we do think that a character like Eva could bring a lot more to NCIS: New Orleans down the road given that she has a lengthy list of contacts and may know how to navigate tough and/or delicate situations. Now if only someone knew how to navigate the right way to ensure that Netflix would give us a Longmire season 6 premiere date, we’d be most grateful — can the CarterMatt team send in Freeman’s NCIS: New Orleans character to their headquarters for some answers?
Anyhow, NCIS: New Orleans season 4 episode 2 looks to be a little more of a traditional episode for this show, one that may be up the alley of viewers that enjoyed the first three seasons and want something that both fits into that mold and feels slightly different. The characters will have evolved from when we first had them around, but they will still have some of the same goals in mind.
