Grey’s Anatomy season 14 spoilers: Greg Germann playing Tom Koracick

Tom Koracick

How about this for another welcome slice of Grey’s Anatomy season 14 news? Greg Germann is coming on board as Tom Koracick.

Now, there is another question we’ve been wondering over here at CarterMatt: Just who in the world is Tom Koracick? In the world of Shondaland, there is a steel-clad door protecting most of the shows secrets and the same can be said here. What we do know (via a new report courtesy of E! News) is that the former Ally McBeal and Once Upon a Time actor is going to be in an episode entitled “Go Big or Go Home,” which is not probably the sort of thing that you want to hear if you’re in a hospital. Typically if someone is saying that to you, it means there is serious doubt as to whether or not you’re going to survive unless some enormous, incredible risk is taken.

It’s possible that Germann could be coming on board as a patient in dire need of some help — given that we haven’t heard about him stopping by beyond a single episode, it’s conventional wisdom to want to think that this could be the case. Beyond that though, there is also a chance that you could see him as some sort of doctor or administrator from another hospital, an attorney, or maybe someone who serves as a bridge between this show and the firefighter spin-off. If you missed it yesterday, CarterMatt has some big news about Jason George joining that show in his role of Ben Warren.

The most important thing to speak of in a meta sense here is that Grey’s Anatomy still remains a hotbed of great talent, and one of the reasons why it’s so successful is because of its ability to be able to continue courting big-name guest stars for its show. It’s a little bit like Law & Order: SVU in the way that some of the meatiest material week in and week out comes via the guest stars, who are typically not showing up at the hospital unless there is some enormous problem that needs to be taken care of.

New episodes of the show start airing later this month, and there are some other notable new characters you’ll meet — to be specific, one of the ones we’re the most interested in seeing is Andrew DeLuca’s sister, given that she comes with a very unique approach to medicine.

What do you think the Tom Koracick role could be?
