The Big Bang Theory season 11 premiere: Riki Lindhome, Stephen Hawking return

Big Bang Theory season 11 premiere

While The Big Bang Theory season 11 premiere date will feature the answer to Sheldon’s proposal, that’s not the only thing it’ll do. This first episode of the fall is fittingly titled “The Proposal Proposal,” and both Riki Lindhome and Stephen Hawking are going to be taking part in the story.

In the case of Lindhome, the appearance of her Ramona Nowitzki makes a great deal of sense given what happened in the season 10 finale. Ramona kissed Sheldon after he rebuked many of her advances, a moment that was certainly awkward to say the least. Don’t you think that Amy is going to struggle with learning more of why Sheldon came all the way across the country to see her? Maybe that moment instilled a sense of urgency in him, but the reality here remains that he probably should have been able to detect that something was amiss with Ramona long before he did.

Hawking’s appearance could be a fun cameo, and the synopsis below also suggests that you’ll be seeing Laurie Metcalf back — a move that makes some sense, when you consider that Young Sheldon is going to air after the premiere and that will feature a younger version of the character:

“Amy gives Sheldon an answer to his proposal while Howard and Bernadette struggle with some unexpected news, on the 11th season premiere of THE BIG BANG THEORY, Monday, Sept. 25 (8:00-8:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Laurie Metcalf returns as Sheldon’s mother, Mary; Riki Lindhome returns as Ramona; and Stephen Hawking returns as himself.”

The Bernadette plotline

We haven’t discussed this yet, but it makes sense that the show would introduce some “unexpected news” given that in real life, Melissa Rauch is currently expecting a child. While it’s possible that the show may not write this into the story, it’s also possible that they would with the knowledge that it’d make production so much easier for both themselves and Melissa. Also, there’s some good storytelling that could come from a second pregnancy given that Howard just went through so much effort to ensure that he and his wife could even afford taking care of one child, let alone two. (The good news? She does seem to have both Stuart and Raj at her beck and call to take care of Halley — odds are, they’d be around in order to do that all over again.

Remember that the premiere episode is going to be one of many that is airing on Monday nights to start off the season. CBS is adopting the same format that they have the past several years in terms of starting off The Big Bang Theory on Mondays to compensate for NFL football.
