Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers video: Early cast takeaways
This video below gives you a few seconds of footage of each castaway, and there are some predictable elements to it — of course, someone makes the lifeguard in the game run along the beach like it’s Baywatch. Beyond that, let’s get now to sharing some of the people who immediately stand out to us within the group.
Ben – He compares himself here to a grizzly bear, and we don’t like it when people compare themselves to animals. This is only acceptable if it’s Kim Spradlin and she is comparing other people to animals.
Alan – We know Alan from when he played for the Cowboys; we’re not sure how interesting he will be on the show beyond that.
Jessica – She has one of the most interesting outlooks on the game out of anyone — she wants her tribe to go through every terrifying thing imaginable.
Joe – This is a dude who looks a little like he could be Tony Vlachos’ little brother. He’s also a probation officer and has dealt with terrifying people.
Mike – He comes from the David Wright School of Neuroses. We know that right now.
Devon – He really wants to be Ozzy, Joe, or really both.
Ryan – The first person to ever wear a turtleneck on Survivor. Is that a good thing or not?
Lauren – Probably the coolest person on the show in terms of story — she’s a single mother and a fisherman. She already seems tough as nails.
Patrick – It’s nice to see that someone cast Scott Farkus from A Christmas Story to be a part of this show.

Other Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers video content
We’re going to include much of it when we do our cast spotlights in the days to come. Note that we’re trying to steer clear of any of Jeff Probst’s players to watch or any potential impressions elsewhere. We want to try to keep our own preseason picks as insulated as possible; it’s more hilarious that way if we’re incredibly off-base.
All in all, we do think that there is going to be some good stuff coming our way this season; there is something nice about having people who aren’t fully equipped to be out there fighting to stay alive in the game. We like the emotional journeys that come along with that and no returning-player season can completely replicate it.
