Ink Master top 8 rankings: Are Old Town Ink, Artistic Skin Design in lead?
Nonetheless, in this article we take a look at all the shops in terms of how they’re doing so far and how they can do the rest of the way! We’re judging this not only based on tattoo quality, but also screen time and whether or not we can see the judges giving a specific shop the win at the end.
8. Allegory Arts – They’ve been in the bottom more frequently than any other remaining team, and while they’ve been able to survive many times over, you do have to worry that their time could be coming the next moment that they stumble.
7. Empire State Studio – Tommy Helm and Marvin Silva are killer artists, but we’re not sure they’re getting the attention of a shop that will end up winning at the end of the season.
6. Basilica Tattoo – Christian and Noelin are great tattoo artists, but they’ve been pretty awful so far in flash challenges to the point where Christian’s even commented on it. If they keep struggling in that, it’s reasonable to see a scenario where they get stuck with a bad canvas one day and get sent home because of it.
5. Golden Skull Tattoo – This is not a vote based on how good of artists Cleen Rock One and Aaron Is are — they’ve only been in one episode! Given that they started the season so late, we feel like they have to be almost pitch-perfect to make it to the end of the season and win.
4. Black Cobra Tattoo – Since arriving, Matt O’Baugh and Katie McGowan have won multiple flash challenges and haven’t really broken much of a sweat. Had they been around more than just the past few episodes, we’d probably rank them higher based on overall performance alone.
3. Unkindness Art – They’ve had some great highs, but also a few moments here and there where it looks like they could be in serious trouble. It’s already been noted than Erin is the stronger tattoo artist of the two, and Doom has struggled here and there with some tasks.
2. Artistic Skin Design – There have been moments where it looked like the two were on the cusp of disaster, but they’ve done better work than any other newbie shop this season and there’s no clear weak link between the two. We can see them getting hot again in the coming weeks and representing the newbie shops in the finale.
1. Old Town Ink – DJ Tambe is probably one of the strongest artists in the competition, and add to that a great working relationship that he has with Bubba Irwin, who has shown to be very much solid in his own right. They’ve done incredible work this season, and we easily can see them winning the whole thing. The biggest thing we’re surprised about is that they haven’t been targeted more than they have.
