TNT’s Claws season 2 premiere date: When could Niecy Nash return?

Claws season 2 premiere date

What is the Claws season 2 premiere date? Coming out of the upcoming season 1 finale, you’re going to want to know an answer!

What we should tell you first, as a simple reminder, is that there a Claws season 2 officially coming your way. TNT announced the official renewal a little bit earlier this year, with the official reason for it being the show’s tremendous success. It’s generated a great deal of social-media buzz, but even beyond that the ratings are strong for a show in its first year.

Want some more evidence of this very thing? Well, let’s stop in for a moment and discuss the most-recent ratings. This past episode generated in total a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic — while that’s not the strongest rating for the show this season, it’s still pretty darn good for a show that is up against Game of Thrones and based on an entirely new concept. Remember that Claws is performing better than many broadcast scripted entities this year, including Somewhere Between and Still Star-Crossed over on ABC.

So as for when the show is actually going to be premiering with this new batch of episodes, summer continues to be a solid guess. There’s obviously something that TNT likes about this timeslot, and with a full year to hype up the show and get new viewers, the ratings could be even higher when season 2 premieres. It may also benefit from a lack of Game of Thrones competition — there’s no word on when the HBO series is going to air some of its final episodes, but early indications at the moment are that it may not be until late 2018 or early 2019. If that show isn’t around, that only benefits this one further!

Content-wise, we don’t expect all that much to change for Niecy Nash or the rest of the cast. This is still a show about family, about a nail salon, and about all of the crazy drama that arrives at Desna’s front door. She was able to curtail some of it in the first season, but she’s also found herself getting in progressively deeper trouble as the story has progressed. (Obviously, it doesn’t help that Roller didn’t actually die at the start of the season — that probably would’ve changed things tremendously.) We expect the show to continue to do much of what it did so successfully during the first season, and that is tow the line between great drama, comedy, and even a little bit of action.
