Celebrity Big Brother 2017: Chad Johnson, Brandi Glanville top notable names
Chad, over the past year and a half, has become quickly known as one of the most notorious reality TV personalities out there. He was physical and super-intimidating on The Bachelorette, and got thrown out one day into Bachelor in Paradise for getting drunk and hyper-aggressive with some of the other people. In general, he’s known for being loud, brash, opinionated, and not someone you really want to mess around with. Let’s hope that the Celebrity Big Brother house contains enough lunch meat (one of his favorites) and workout equipment to keep him happy. At least he’s used to living under one roof with a number of other crazy reality personalities, right?
As for Glanville, the former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast members will likely draw headlines with all sorts of commentary here — she’s certainly made it before talking about LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian, and will more than likely do so again. She’s been a big part of the podcast world since departing the Bravo series, but we’re sure that she would like another gig at some point in the future.
Given that this show is hardly casting the biggest of big names (plus there are always a couple of them who quit during the early going anyway), there are only two other people of the group who we’re familiar with going into the season.
Amelia Lily – She was a former X Factor contestant who was eliminated in the early going, but returned halfway through after a surprise departure in the competition. She ended up making it fairly far and having some mainstream success as a singer.
Helen Lederer – She was a part of Absolutely Fabulous, arguably one of the great British comedies of all time. Every season there is always one contestant who is classified in the camp of “why in the world is this person here,” and on this season, it’s Helen. Last season, it was Game of Thrones actor James Cosmo, who made it fairly far even while refusing to partake in some of the sillier aspects of the show in fear that it would damage his reputation as an actor. (We still think that the entire show at times qualifies for that.)
If you’ve never watched the Celebrity UK version of the show, it has some merit in terms of comedy and randomness. However, it also has a ton of rules that make zero sense and given so many people tend to give up on it midway through, there’s not much in the way of merit to root for anyone too hard in the early going.
