Teen Wolf season 6 spoilers: How much will Dylan O’Brien appear?

Dylan O'Brien

It’s been known for a little while now that Dylan O’Brien will be back for Teen Wolf season 6B; however, the length of that stay is unclear. Obviously, there were indications aplenty out there that the show would not have the actor for the full run of ten episodes, with his busy film schedule serving as one of the major reasons why. Nonetheless, he found a way to make himself available to tell a little more of Stiles’ story, and the writers then in turn figured out some of the best ways to include him. Good news all around!

If you are curious to grab some further insight on that, including an approximate episode count for Dylan then we have some scoop on that for you. Let’s turn this over to showrunner Jeff Davis! In speaking on this subject to Entertainment Weekly, Davis had the following to say about the challenges of telling this story, which featured Stiles’ absence plus also Scott, Lydia, and the rest of the pack all preparing to go in different directions following their time in Beacon Hills:

“They were all ready to go their separate ways, so it was a different feeling this season [with] new people and having Stiles gone. We knew that we were going to get Dylan O’Brien for only a couple episodes, and we wanted to make his character still linger in the minds of people and also to bring him and others back in big, satisfying ways. It’s definitely a different dynamic.”

It would be expected that this story would be a totally different dynamic for some of these characters for a lot of different reasons, with one of the biggest ones being that there is nothing necessarily tying them down to Beacon Hills anymore. They have a chance to face a hopefully-safer future outside of the town, and they should all want to embrace that. They’re looking ahead and can start to see the light at the end of the tunnel. If there are any people out there in the world of TV who deserve some sanity, it’s the likes of Scott McCall and many of his friends.

Just in case you were wondering who some of the “others” Davis mentions here are, they include Tyler Hoechlin and Colton Haynes — any opportunity to get familiar faces back on either side is something we’re going to celebrate. Given that one of the main villains this season is Gerard and his army of hunters, our wolf-pack friends are going to need all the help they can get. This is also a season very much built on fear, but it’s a different sort of fear than what we’ve seen in the past. It’s fear of the unknown plus a unifying force trying to drive fear into the hearts of humanity.
