Shadowhunters season 2 episode 16 spoilers: Clary, Jace, and more Paul Wesley
Has there ever been a director for a show ever so prominently promoted? Aside from people who are a part of the show, there are not many occasions where we think that’s the case. Obviously, this is a move that Freeform wants to promote for a number of different reasons, with the biggest one being simply that they don’t want to run the risk at all of losing any potential publicity here. They understand that fans of The Vampire Diaries are the sort of people who could enjoy Shadowhunters, and as a result of that, they do very clearly want them to watch. Having that happen is essential to keeping the show going — it’s already been renewed for a third season, but beyond that, the future is unclear given that the ratings have fallen quite a bit as of late in terms of live/same-day viewing.
The video below does a great job of showing a little bit of Paul as director while also explaining a little bit more of why and how he ended up landing this gig in the first place. Apparently, a big part of it does pertain to some of what he did in the past over within the CW universe, and some positive feedback that came along with that.

Here’s your dose of Jace/Clary goodness. In this preview, Katherine McNamara’s character asks a number of big questions when it comes to what’s going on with Jace, especially in terms of an investigation that is going on in Staten Island. Why did he invite her to take part in it? On some level, of course, he was probably thinking that this would be a great way for the two of them to cover more ground and get answers for what’s out there.
Then, you’ve also got the flip side of the equation, one where you’ve got Jace harboring some deep feelings for Clary. He had that one moment of passion with her, and he may be trying to find a way in order to replicate it. He may not intentionally want to hurt Simon Lewis, and that’s what makes this whole situation so darn complicated. In order for one thing to happen, he has to be very much aware of the blowback that could come with it.
