Riverdale season 2 and the … Brett Favre connection?

Brett Favre

There are unusual Riverdale season 2 stories, and then there is this one that leads to Brett Favre paying the show a set visit.

In a new post on his official Instagram, Casey Cott (who plays the part of Kevin Keller on the CW series) effectively confirmed that the former NFL legend was visiting the set. Why? It doesn’t seemingly have to do with him joining the cast as a grizzled football coach or anything; instead, it’s as simple as the fact that his family was visiting the set. We have to figure that someone in his family is a big fan of the show — we like to think that Favre is a Bughead ‘shipper, even if that is not actually the case.

Riverdale season 2 films all the way up in Vancouver, so Favre made quite a trek up from where he resides in order to see the cast and crew in action. Judging from the reactions of Cott and others, clearly there were some very happy people to have him around for the day. This is far from the first time that we’ve seen a famous person spend a day on set, and it probably happens more so than you’d think. It’s a great way for there to be some publicity all around. The celebrity gets to have a moment with a show that they or their family really enjoy, whereas the show itself gets a chance to benefit from that added publicity.

Think about this whole situation this way: If Brett and his family are willing to go all the way up to Vancouver in order to see the show, it’s great evidence to potential-Riverdale fans that the show is great and worth checking out. Given that we’re not sure many of Favre’s own fans even knew what the show was before today, any stamp of approval helps, right?

Riverdale season 2 will premiere on The CW this October, and we imagine that it’s going to be a rather fantastic opportunity to see some more craziness go down in the town. At the end of this past season of the show, what we ended up seeing is a wide array of crazy events, whether it be Cheryl Blossom letting her house burn or Jughead finding himself in a very bad place. The craziness is only going to expand outward from here most likely.
