Nashville season 5 episode 18 spoilers: The search for change

Nashville season 5

Following up on Thursday night’s new episode, Nashville season 5 episode 18 will of course be a story taking on challenges. It’s following up on the decision by Avery to go off on a tour, Deacon suffering a new spell of mourning, and also Scarlett trying to find healing in the form of listening to the stories of others.

We shared on Thursday the first promo for the upcoming episode entitled “The Night Before (Life Goes On),” and we’re now here happy to present more in the way of details! Check out, per SpoilerTV, the synopsis for the hour below:

“Juliette’s injuries continue to plague her; Avery gets a taste of independence; Scarlett and Gunnar shoot a national commercial; Deacon plays a benefit for charity.”

The thing that is the most interesting about this episode for now to us is seeing how Deacon moves forward now after struggling so much with his grief this past episode. Can he focus in? He was forced to confront the idea of moving on from Rayna for the first time this past episode, and clearly he’s not ready for it, even if Jessie Cane is a nice person and someone who does have a little bit of commonality with Deacon when it comes to past hardship. The two can effectively relate to each other in ways that few other people can.

Maybe this is something that could be explored further down the road, but for now, we’ll give the show some credit for giving themselves an opportunity in order to explore it now.

As for the other stories, the commercial for Scarlett and Gunnar is something that may make sense for them career-wise right now, given that they do want to send something out into the universe that shows them together and happy; even subliminally, this may be something that greatly improves perception of them. However, the larger question here is whether or not it will work as a strategic partnership, and even if Scarlett can make it through the shoot given that the aforementioned promo does show her clearly struggling with the idea that was given to the two of them.

As for Juliette and Avery, we’ll take these stories more as they come; admittedly, they haven’t had our favorite things to do on this show in a while.
