Killjoys season 3 episode 2 spoilers: ‘A Skinner, Darkly’

Killjoys season 3 episode 2

For those of you who love thrilling science fiction, Killjoys season 3 episode 2 airing next week has to be exciting, or as close to exciting as possible as the premiere airing tonight. This is the new starting-off point for Dutch, and a chance to see how this complicated / super-entertaining story continues to evolve. Within this world, there is a constant element of change.

Also, this show is ridiculously fun. We’re not sure how many of you are planning to watch / have watched tonight for the first time — you are missing a lot, but there’s still a welcoming sense of accessibility with the show. Just think back to the season 3 trailer, which was effectively more about the “joys” of bounty-hunting in space more so than unraveling some sort of deep mythology. (We could get into some sort of deeper discussion here about marketing strategies, but for Syfy, it makes a little bit of sense to promote the show to the casuals. Also, kudos to Syfy for assembling this lineup in the first place — by far, it’s the most fun that we’ve had with a lineup this summer.)

Let’s get in now to the title for the next episode: “A Skinner, Darkly.” For those who aren’t familiar, the title is clearly a reference to A Scanner, Darkly, the Philip K. Dick novel that eventually became the basis for the Richard Linklater film of the same name. As for how that will tie in completely to the show, time will tell! What we can say for now is that the photo above has to be one of the greatest promotional photos out there for an episode.

Killjoys season 3 episode 2 synopsis – “As Dutch and D’avin attempt to train a new nerd, Johnny finds his search for Clara is getting under others skin.”

The promo

There are so many different things that are cool about this, whether it be the simple-but-effective line read on “we need nerds” or the walking shot at the end. Sure, this does very little beyond the synopsis in terms of telling you what’s coming up, but it’s effective — and visually stunning in a way that much of the show is. (They make a lot out of a little budget-wise.)

Ratings expectations

The rest of the season, we’ll be back with some more news and discussion in this space as to the latest numbers. It’s a little difficult to do that right now without having seen the numbers come in. Our hope is that they hover close to the 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic / 600,000-plus viewers who were there for the first season. Stability goes a long way to ensuring a renewal.

Of course, we welcome you now to share your Killjoys season 3 episode 2 thoughts and expectations now in the attached comments!
