Hawaii Five-0 season 8: McGarrett will survive!

Steve McGarrett

Is Steve McGarrett going to die on Hawaii Five-0 season 8? There is absolutely a reason to worry about him after we learned last season about his radiation poisoning, but he may make it through alive. This is at least true for the time being… the future is not as certain.

In a new post on Twitter, executive producer Peter M. Lenkov responded to a fan asking that it was true that Alex O’Loughlin’s character would be killed off next season. His response? Well, he kept it pretty simple: “Not true.” Steve may not be out of the woods, but he is going to make it through next season still in one piece and for now we will take what we can get.

There are still two other things that you do have to remember / consider here.

1. O’Loughlin could still leave the show – While we personally want to believe that McGarrett will be a part of season 9, the actor has made comments in the past about leaving after season 8. It’s best to take a wait-and-see approach here.

2. Who knows what could happen in a season 9? – We know that Steve has radiation poisoning after what happened with the bomb in season 7, just as we also know that this is not the sort of problem that goes away. It’s clearly something that he will have to deal with; hopefully, most of the symptoms will just stay dormant, and he will be able to go about his usual business being awesome for a while more.

Steve is not the only character at the moment facing a certain degree of uncertainty when it comes to his future. After all, you do have to remember what’s going on with a number of other characters. Danny is considering retirement, Chin has a job offer awaiting him in California, and Kono is in the process of chasing down a sex trafficking ring. All of these characters are left up in the air, and hopefully the first couple of episodes of the new season will start to address some of them. Ideally, we do want to believe that these are characters who will be around each other forever working with the Task Force, but this is life and things change. With that, you have to be prepared for everything.

New episodes of Hawaii Five-0 will start filming soon out in the islands, and the show is set to premiere on CBS this September. As you would expect, we will be around with some further news on the subject of the show before long over at the link here. (Photo: CBS)
