Will a GLOW season 2 renewal happen? Hopes high for Alison Brie series

GLOW season 2 renewal

Are we going to see a GLOW season 2 renewal sooner rather than later? While the Alison Brie series isn’t on Netflix yet, there’s optimism.

One of the biggest reasons for this sentiment at the moment is simple: Reviews. Critics have been almost uniformly positive towards the comedy, which is based on the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling that helped to further define 1980’s nostalgia. There are so many examples of shows like this over the years, whether it be The Goldbergs or even a classic sitcom in Happy Days, that are further reminders that period pieces can work in the comedy genre. Also, this show has an incredible cast in between Brie, Marc Maron, Betty Gilpin, and others. If you love wrestling history, or are just looking for a good comedy with a strong message of empowerment, this could be the show for you.

Ultimately, it is always hard to define success for Netflix given that they really don’t release any sort of viewership data on their shows. With that, you often have to look at the relationship between a show’s critical acclaim, its social-media buzz, and also its budget. There are no reports out there about GLOW costing an extreme amount of money like a Sense8 or a The Crown, so as long as people are talking about it in the days and weeks following its premiere, there will be a chance to get more of it down the road. If the buzz fades quickly, it could, as well.

For the time being, it’s best to go ahead and assume that GLOW is going to be coming back just because it’s hard to imagine many scenarios in which it wouldn’t happen. Also, Netflix has a very good track record of bringing shows back for at least two seasons. The Get Down is one of the few examples out there of a show that found itself on the receiving end of a cancellation, but as reported recently, there was a reason for that when it comes to the show’s lofty budget.

What do you think: Are you optimistic about a GLOW season 2 renewal, or do you think it best to await the show’s premiere before drawing any conclusions? Share in the comments!
