The Handmaid’s Tale season 2: Alexis Biedel’s promotion; Gilmore Girls implications
Sources confirm that the actress, who played the part of Ofglen, will be a regular for the second season. That doesn’t mean that she will appear in every episode by any means, but you should anticipate that she will have a more substantial role than the five episodes in which she appeared during the first season of the show. That’s great news for those who want to continue to see Biedel on TV, and who wouldn’t really given that she’s one of the most talented people out there?
There is no firm timetable on a second season of The Handmaid’s Tale, but part of the excitement here is going to come out of seeing the show evolve more past the source material from Margaret Atwood into some new and interesting directions. Sure, the source material is fantastic in its own right, but continuing the series along could be worth exploration for many years to come.

What about Gilmore Girls season 9?
We understand anyone raising that question following hearing this news, mostly because we’ve also raised the same question. The reality here remains this: There is zero confirmation at the moment that a Gilmore Girls season 9 is actually going to happen with Biedel, Lauren Graham, or anyone else, so why wait around on it? If it’s something that happens down the line, it will happen and the cast and crew will find a way to work the schedule out. Given that The Handmaid’s Tale is one of the best shows of the year and it’s incredibly relevant culturally, it’s pretty darn clear that this is not a role that Biedel would want to pass on under any stretch of the imagination.
With all of this being said, we can’t imagine that Rory being pregnant is the end of Gilmore Girls. We waited for so long to get those famous four words, and all they’ve done now is open the door for a million or so other interesting story possibilities.
Of course, we want to hear your thoughts on the subject of Biedel’s promotion — and your hopes for more Gilmore Girls — in the comments! (Photo: Hulu.)
