Marvel’s The Defenders: See Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, more in key art!

Marvel’s The Defenders will be coming onto Netflix come August 18, but you luckily don’t have to wait anywhere near that long to see the first key art! If you look below, you can see the likes of Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), and Finn Jones (Iron Fist) all striking a pose while they prepare for whatever adventures may await the collective group.

Surprisingly, this poster does not come with a lot of frills, hype, motion effects, or anything else that you often tend to see with such big-budget productions. It’s more about the four heroes and the spirit of unity that they are going to need to develop in the event that they want to take out some of the threats that are at bay. While it’s been known for some time that Sigourney Weaver will be playing the primary villain at the heart of the show, there is not a whole lot of information available beyond that. We just know that if you are going to try to overtake these four, you have to be pretty darn powerful and influential to boot.

Are there a billion reasons to be excited about this? Absolutely. While we’d argue that all four of the Netflix shows to date in Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist all did have their issues, they were all also very much entertaining most of the time. Typically, the idea of getting more of a good thing is something that you would celebrate.

The primary problem here comes in that these four characters all have powers with some similarities (multiple heroes all have some sort of advanced strength), and in the case of Luke Cage, the man’s virtually indestructible! It’s hard to come up with cohesive arguments as to who he can face off against that will actually present some sort of threat for him to be stopped. The writers have their work cut out for them when it comes to that one.

What do you think about this poster, and does it make you more or less excited to see The Defenders on the air? Share now in the attached comments.
