Outlander season 3: Caitriona Balfe looks towards end of season 3 filming

Can you believe that the end of Outlander season 3 filming is almost here? This feels like one of those strange instances where it feels as though time has moved quickly and time has been at a standstill almost simultaneously. It also depends on the moment in which you decide to put things into perspective.

Judging from the latest tweet from star Caitriona Balfe on Twitter, tomorrow will be the final day for filming in South Africa, which will certainly be a strange experience for the cast and crew. You’ll have to find a way to take in every last moment of your time living and working together in this new country, halfway around the world from where you typically are in Scotland. It’s a beautiful place with smoldering temperatures, but also picturesque views and plenty of sunny skies. The photo attached to Balfe’s tweet is further evidence of the sheer beauty of the location that the cast and crew had an opportunity to spend some time in.

As for what these scenes will be comprised of, think in terms of Claire and Jamie’s journey down to Jamaica, and then some time in the country proper. Everything visually will be different about the show, but the spirit will still be the same.

Once filming is done, Balfe and the rest of the cast can start to kick off their off-season, and hopefully have some time off in the process. We would anticipate that there will be a little bit of work for them in the coming months given that there is some ADR work that will still likely need to be done; following that, the journey of properly promoting the show can also begin leading up to its launch in September.

Hopefully, there will be a few more photos / videos / other good stuff posted tomorrow as season 3 filming wraps. You better believe that we’ll have whatever highlights are out there and we wish the cast and crew farewell and congratulate them on a heck of a journey the past several months.

Before you go…

One other story that is worth checking out at present is our list of three things that we’d love to see from Starz prior to Outlander season 3 coming on the air. Think of these as some ways that the network can build a little more in the way of further buzz! (Photo: Starz.)
