Eleanor Tomlinson already hoping for Poldark season 5 to happen
One of these said people is Demelza herself in Eleanor Tomlinson. Speaking as a part of a new interview with The Sun, the actress expressed excitement at the idea of being able to continue filming the show for at least another year beyond this one (as filming for the fourth season begins later this year):
“If we go to five series that would be a dream. We would be very lucky and honoured to get that far … I think if we go to five series then that would be a dream come true — and how many series have done that?”
When it comes to serialized British dramas, there aren’t all that many that do manage to last for five years without taking some sort of lengthy break along the way. Downton Abbey and Call the Midwife are among them, but for the most part the list of shows is a relatively small one. British series in general tend to have shorter runs, as it does become increasingly expensive to produce them as time goes by.
For now, there is every reason to be optimistic in the world about the future of Poldark, largely because of the fact that the ratings for the premiere episode came in and the show performed incredibly well. As a whole, it fared between than the season 2 premiere, and you can add to the show’s success the fact that it did perform well in many other parts of the world as well.
Now that we’ve said all of that, with all of the time jumps that are present within the source material there is a case to be made for the show to take a little bit of time off during its run at some point. It remains to be seen if that will happen or not.
