Is Bachelor in Paradise 4 canceled? Production halted over ‘misconduct’
In a statement per Deadline, the show’s studio (Warner Bros.) had the following to say about the decision to stop production on the show, including the reason why:
“We have become aware of allegations of misconduct on the set of ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ in Mexico. We have suspended production and we are conducting a thorough investigation of these allegations. Once the investigation is complete, we will take appropriate responsive action.”
We all know that Bachelor Nation as a franchise loves to hype up drama, but there is a line where ridiculous drama becomes something else. In the past we’ve seen situations where events were teetering on that line, but something serious had to have happened for the show to actually stop production rather than allowing it to continue. – Update: we have more information on the situation including who may have been involved at the link here.
While Bachelor in Paradise is not officially canceled, it does appear that the entirety of the show’s cast has already been flown out of Mexico, judging from some of the group airport photos that are on social media. The show had already been set up there with a host of past contestants trying to find love (and potentially more fame). While there’s been a lot of drama on it over the years, there’s also been a lighthearted spirit to it; think of it as the lighthearted little brother to the main Bachelor franchise.
Obviously, this is all super early, but you have to think that there is going to be a whole lot more in the way of information that is pushed out in the coming week. This show was originally set to premiere later this summer, following the end of Rachel Lindsay’s season of The Bachelorette. Even if production was to resume, it’s hard to know how they would get everyone back there to finish in time. Mostly it’s disappointing to know that we are not going to have Bachelor in Paradise this summer as it’s always been some silly summer fun for us. For filming to get stopped, and everyone sent home, there must’ve been something pretty serious going down since we’ve seen contestants on reality shows removed for threats of violence, but never a whole show shut down. Even Big Brother 15 had a group of houseguests that were being incredibly racist that not only stayed in the house, but made it to the end of the game… so our thinking is that this is pretty bad.
