Is The White Princess new tonight? The past two months have produced wonderful drama, and with that, it’s fair to want so much more.

Alas, the truth of the matter is that there is no more episodes. Last week marked the end of the limited series about Lizzie and Henry VII, and now, you have to wait and see if Starz and Emma Frost find a way to continue the franchise in another way.

While there are some limited series that do end in a way in which it does feel pretty tied-up, there was a pretty big argument for more here given that Lizzie and Henry’s lives together were in so many ways only beginning. There were stories to tell when it comes to alliances, politics, children, and so much more. This entire series was a precursor in some ways to The Tudors, even if it aired on a different network and they weren’t in the same exact TV canon. You can see how one carries and moves over into the next.

If we were to request more from Starz and historical dramas at the moment, it would be to go even earlier. This for a moment about how many Elizabethan dramas there are out there already, but how few that there are about English royalty in prior houses, such as the House of Anjou, the House of Lancaster, and even earlier. While historical record may be a little spotty, you are not beholden to recreate every fact as they were. You can capture some of the opulence of the Tudor era while still also figuring out a way to incorporate something very raw, primitive, and inherently fascinating. There is a lot of great content out there that could in the end be explored further. Much of the debate comes in the when and how.

Maybe, Starz will revisit the historical drama world in an additional year or two; The White Princess did prove itself to be rather successful, and the demand seems to be there for further exploration.
