Poldark season 3 spoilers: Meet Demelza’s brothers Sam and Drake

Demelza's brothers

The premiere Poldark season 3 on Sunday is just over 24 hours away, and that is of course a cause of great excitement! As for what else is, you don’t have to look any further than Demelza’s brothers Sam and Drake. The two men are coming onto the show for the first time this weekend, and you’ll get a chance to see them stir up some trouble in the weeks to come.

Want a brief introduction to them? The video below via the show’s official account serves as a strong way to do that, as actors Tom York and Harry Richardson describe their arrival to the series and what they are bringing to the table. While a big part of the hype over the weeks to come may be geared towards their appearance (this does tend to happen when it comes to Poldark), but they are actually coming aboard the series with more of a religious purpose in mind. Sam and Drake are present in an effort to try to convert Ross, Demelza, and others to a Methodist way of think. With their father ailing, they want to spread a little bit more of the Good News to anyone that will hear.

Will they be successful in their plight to “save the souls of the people in Cornwall”? Well, it’s probably fair to say that the two will find themselves distracted at some point along the way. This does often happen when you are thrust into a world where there are such regular distractions, and here they are really all across the board whether it be career opportunities, women, or simply the life along that beautiful coast.

The way that the series has introduced new characters over time has proven to be very diplomatic and smart. Rather than giving you a whole flurry of people at once, you instead get a chance to see a few new faces every year as a means to shake things up ever so slightly. You want a Poldark season to feel familiar, but also not more of the same. It’s a tricky balance, making everyone happy! Somehow, the show does manage to pull this off.
