Nathan Fillion, Tony Hale joining A Series of Unfortunate Events season 2
Are you ready for another Series of Unfortunate Events? We hope so, given that Nathan Fillion and Tony Hale are among the names just announced!
This news was first reported by Variety, who made it clear that the announcement came at an Emmy promotional panel for the show. Fillion, whose last series-regular role was on Castle, and Veep star Hale will be joined by Sara Rue, Lucy Punch and Roger Bart as new players to the show this season.
The addition of Fillion doesn’t come as much of a shock, given that he started a relationship with Netflix courtesy of Santa Clarita Diet and clearly wants to keep that going in some rather fun directions. With the success of Castle, he also probably doesn’t feel immediate pressure to get another regular gig. The addition of Hale is a little bit more of a surprise, given that he already has Veep to go along with a new season of Arrested Development, one that will actually feature the Bluth clan a little bit more together than they were the first time. When is he going to find the time to do all of this?
This is all great news for the series, which stars Neil Patrick Harris, Patrick Warburton, and others, as they look to get further buzz and publicity for the next part of the story coming up. It’s also a little bit of a reunion for Fillion and Harris, who worked together on the brilliant Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog many years ago, otherwise known as that thing a billion people out there all want there to be a sequel to. It’s hard to really lose with this, since basically what you are seeing here is a whole legion of very-funny people wanting to be a part of a show that has some great comedic qualities.
Now, the bad news: A Series of Unfortunate Events season 2 is not going to be airing until the new year. For now, you’ve got a lot of time to digest these castings and prepare for what is next. If there is more to report here eventually, we’ll have it at the site.
