Silicon Valley season 4 episode 7 spoilers: ‘The Patent Troll’
What is this story going to be about here? Basically, the title for the episode speaks for itself. Patent trolls are becoming more and more commonplace, mostly because of the fact that they are a way for people to leach off of businesses in order to get additional revenue with very little effort.
Basically, this episode is probably going to be a battleground — an entertaining, ridiculous battleground. Unfortunately, there is no synopsis out there for the episode just yet.
However, what can be said about this episode based on the preview that aired after the fact is that you’re going to get a worthy introduction to one “Ed Chambers,” an alter ego of Jared’s who turns out to be so much more confident than Jared ever was. Knowing the way that things tend to roll downhill on this show, one of the earliest assumptions to make here is that by the end of the story, you’re probably going to see the guys trying to get Jared to use this alter ego full time.
As for what else was in the preview, Richard is also going to be visiting his doctor in order to further ensure that he’s okay after sleeping with Liz. As you saw tonight, this hookup could’ve easily derailed his entire business deal; instead, he was so terrible that all it did instead was inspire Liz to keep with her fiancee Dan, the same person who Erlich already screwed over previously.
One final question to think about here: Is Erlich’s new possible job, and new team-up with Haley Joel Osment, going to send him down the road to leaving after this season? Much of the debate here will revolve around whether or not the writers knew TJ Miller was leaving at the time they were writing the season.
