The Leftovers season 3 episode 8 (series finale) spoilers: Book of Nora

Going into The Leftovers season 3 episode 8, otherwise known as the series finale, there is a sense of plurality. “The Book of Kevin” started off the season, and “The Book of Nora” is the title for the series finale. The story started with the tale of one character, and looks as though it may be ending with another. Could Nora Durst, the woman who arguably has suffered more than any other since the beginning of the series, be the true savior at the end of the story? Within the world of this series, almost anything is possible.

Unfortunately, here is the bad news with the series finale: In advance of the series finale, HBO is not releasing all too much in the way of details. There is no synopsis out there just yet, and there is not official verification yet on the run time.

The one thing that is known about the series finale is something that executive producer Damon Lindelof announced before the start of the series — there is no answer coming as to the origin of the Departure. This is not Lost; it’s a show about people and understanding the now as opposed to the past or the future. (Granted, “understanding” is probably one of the stranger words one could use to describe this show given the confusing nature of the episode that aired tonight.)

The preview that aired after tonight’s episode showed you, via a series of fragments, some of the pain and drama that is coming in the series finale. You are going to see Nora Durst attempting to come to terms with the operation that originals excluded her, while Kevin tries to figure out the best way possible to become integrated with her once more in life. As he learned in the alternate world, sometimes it is the simple things that matter the most. He had Nora, and he let her get away out of fear. That’s something he may not be able to ever cope with.
