Absentia poster revealed; new Stana Katic teaser (video)

Absentia poster

If you find yourself interested in taking a look at an Absentia poster, look no further! At the bottom of this article, you can see the first promotional art of its kind for the upcoming AXN – Stana Katic series.

The big takeaway from this, beyond Katic’s name front and center and a profile of her face, is the presence of her character Emily Byrne underwater. As pointed out here a number of times, water remains an important part of the series’ fabric. A pool specifically is featured in a wide array of behind-the-scenes shots from the season, and this is further evidence that this has a certain degree of importance to her.

For some time, the question was if Emily had a certain affinity for the water? After seeing this poster, the question now becomes if she’s afraid of drowning in it, or even if the water is a metaphor for her drowning in her own mind as she tries to remember. It’s now been confirmed that Absentia will premiere on AXN Spain this fall, and that is the first confirmed approximate time for any country.

Now, who is ready for a new teaser?

A journey for a safe space

Until (regrettably) six or seven months ago, the words “safe space” were used in a comforting way to describe a source of peace for a person. Since Emily was found after five years in exile, it’s clear she still needs that. This new teaser video (see below) features the character seemingly finding that safe space on a fire escape … in the cold. It’s a beautiful shot, but it also shows her detachment from the remainder of the world.

At the tail end of this teaser, you can hear Emily say something — what is it? After listening to this about ten or so times, it feels like either “I remember” or “I remembered” — it’d be easy to label them as interchangeable, but the reality is that this couldn’t be further from the truth. The timing of when Emily remembers her past is essential to understanding who she is and who she will become.

Here’s the one thing you can be assured of at the moment — AXN and the studio Sony is doing a fantastic job at present promoting the show, even if it is many months out from a potential premiere.
