Designated Survivor season 2 premiere date for Kiefer Sutherland, cast

What will the Designated Survivor season 2 premiere date be coming out of Wednesday night’s finale? That is the question for the hour.

The first thing to say here is simple: The second season is officially coming this fall! While there is a new showrunner coming on board, the good news is that Kiefer Sutherland and the rest of the cast are going to continue to tell intricate, complicated stories for a little while longer.

Of course, there are also going to be challenges at the heart of the second season when it does air, with one of the biggest ones simply being that real life is so crazy at this point. How does the show figure out a way to tell stories that are over-the-top when real life at this point is so over-the-top? It’s such a messy, bizarre, and interesting challenge that the show has to take on, but hopefully it will be one that the writers figure out over the next few months.

Based on the current schedule for the fall (remember, Designated Survivor season 2 is going to be in the same Wednesday night timeslot at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time), most signs point to the show being back in action starting on either Wednesday, September 20 or September 27. It’s possible that the show could be starting a little bit later, but it’s hard to figure out exactly what the logic would be with that given that in theory, you want to launch this show at the same time as the remainder of the other ones currently on the schedule.

Remember that if you want to see Designated Survivor season 2 to perform well, there is one way in which that can be done: Watching live. Be sure to recommend the show to all of your friends over the course of the hiatus, since otherwise, you do run the risk of it eventually going off the air down the road. The ratings were good enough the past few weeks to get the show renewed this time around, but they were also a pretty big drop off from where they were at the start of the season.
