The Toy Box: Did Quadball, Connectimals, Curly Girls United, Bitblocks, or Candy Krusher advance?

This season of The Toy Box is inching ever closer to the end of the season, and tonight, Quadball, Connectimals, and more are strutting their stuff. Over the course of this episode, the goal is simple: To chart the journey of these toys from the adult judges to the kids, and then to see who stands atop the fry screaming “victory” at the top of their lungs.

Candy Krusher – This was the closest toy to a slam dunk in terms of making it to the next round — it changes candy into different shapes! It’s different than anything else this season, and it’s very innovative. It easily made it into the Toy Box.

In the Toy Box itself, it felt like the kids were moderately impressed at best. This became almost more about the shtick that the man had muscles.

Connectimals – It’s an innovation to the push toy industry operated by a father and daughter. It’s a great story, but is it a great toy? The swapping around of various parts of the plushes is appealing — the Mr. Potato Head comparison is apt. The big problem is the magnets. It wasn’t enough to stop the animals from entering the Toy Box, but it’s something to be worked out.

The kids in the Toy Box were happy with the uniqueness of it — Noah also loved being able to make a demon.

Bitblocks – A new construction toy innovation, but this is the big issue — it’s yet another construction toy with a so-so prototype. There wasn’t enough that caused this to stand out from the mold of other construction toys that were out there.

Curly Girls United – The idea for the brand is wonderful — dolls that celebrate a wide array of diversity. This is becoming more widespread. What makes this stand out is the hair, which is pretty thick and pretty luscious. Unfortunately, this was all about the hair — and a crazy price. No Toy Box this time.

Quadball – This looks fantastic — an old-school competitive game that is easy to set up and play. It looks high-quality, and simple enough to learn. That, plus the replay value, are essential.

In the Toy Box, the kids seemed to love it. One of the best reactions of the entire season.

The end result

Both Quadball and Connectimals are worthy winners who had really great products — yet, the judges made the decision to put forward Candy Krusher! This was shocking, but then again, kids love candy.
