Chicago Fire season 5 episode 21 spoilers: Could Cruz be fired?

Chicago Fire season 5 episode 21 will be an episode about a wide array of things, but for Cruz, it’s about the recent past biting him in the you-know-what.

If you recall, last week, we saw the character take his job as a bouncer a little too seriously, and got physical with a drunk patron demanding more to drink. He went overboard in the moment, and it caused a scene; however, it never seemed to cross his mind that there could be any far-reaching consequences that could come about as a result of this.

The new sneak peek below (via the Chicago Sun-Times) makes it very clear just how many consequences there could be as a result of his actions. Boden calls him in for a meeting, and it’s there that Cruz is told that he has been charged with conduct unbecoming of his position. While he wasn’t wearing anything at the time that made it seem as though he was a member of the fire department, apparently the tattoo on his arm was a dead giveaway. This is enough to force him into a situation where there will be a hearing, and on the other side of this he will learn whether or not there is a chance for him to lose his job.

Do we think that Cruz will be fired? We hope not, but anything is possible at the moment given that there is such a microscope around everything that everyone does. If the wrong person sees this and it goes viral, then not long after that he could find all sorts of people at his door either clamoring for answers, or trying to find a way to hurt him further.

This story is going to be one of the big anchors for Tuesday night’s new episode. As for one of the other ones, you don’t have to look too much further than seeing where Kelly Severide is in the wake of Anna’s death. He will be channeling much of his emotion into work, and that is probably not a good thing when it comes to his treatment of newcomer Jason Kannell. He is going to have to earn his keep, and that’s not an easy thing to do at 51.
